U.K.-based Visualplanet announced the release of a protection layer designed for interactive outdoor kiosks and digital signage display solutions.
The touchfoil with UV blocking protects units from 98 percent of UVA and UVB rays, safeguarding LCD panels from long-term sun exposure and damage, according to a company release. The protective layer is applied to the internal side of the enclosure’s glass, reducing the time and cost in maintenance and replacements.
"The addition of the touchfoil with UV blocking capability, further enhances our standing as a key component for manufacturers of outdoor kiosks and totems looking to protect their displays, with the extra benefit of making them an interactive touchscreen," said Mike Cole, director of Visualplanet, in the announcement. "By initiating this innovative touchfoil with UV blocking, we are providing an essential solution for the outdoor digital signage market."
