Wincor Nixdorf announced its newest multifunction automated checkout solution, the BEETLE /iSCAN EASY Hybrid, that is set for presentation at the upcoming National Retail Federation Big Show in New York City.
Dubbed an "Always Open" lane concept, the ADA II-compliant BEETLE /iSCAN EASY Hybrid is designed to maximize throughput and optimize front-end labor for retailers. The all-in-one solution is "so easy to use" that it only takes one employee to monitor and manage several checkout lanes simultaneously, Wincor Nixdorf said in the announcement. If a customer requests assistance while the lane is in self-checkout mode, an attendant can take control of the transaction with a single click.
Wincor Nixdorf's TPiSCAN software platform controls the self-checkout processes for the new system, the announcement said. In addition, the company's next-generation scanning technology with improved barcode recognition is now available for the new 360 Scan Portal, a fully automated POS solution with a 360-degree scanner system.
