Fujitsu ramped up its retail offerings today as the company announced a suit of new services to enhance the consumer's checkout process.
The company introduced the U-Shop mobile application, which allows consumers to scan each item using their smartphone, remove items from their purchase list, and pay for their items at the register. The U-Shop application is powered by the Fujitsu U-Scan software solution, which enables a personalized shopping experience for the consumer via a mobile application.
In addition, Fujitsu announced the U-Scan Quantum Checkout, an automated POS solution that allows for full-service, self-service and modified service from one solution set. With Quantum Checkout, retailers can toggle back and forth from self- to full-service within a single transaction, delivering modified service, which as defined by Fujitsu, addresses the gap in which a consumer desires to fully participate, but may need minor cashier assistance.
"Self-checkout has become a core component within most retailers' point-of-sales operations," said Brian Yates, director of retail product marketing at Fujitsu America. "Retailers are driven to improve consumer satisfaction scores as well as their labor expenditures, and our new Quantum Checkout solution will meet both goals by having more lanes open, every day, without adding additional cashier hours."
