Visualant Inc., a provider of color-based identification and diagnostic solutions and security solutions, is focusing on the kiosk industry through its wholly-owned subsidiary, TransTech Systems Inc.

Because of the growth that it expects in the kiosk industry, the company is increasing its focus on the use of card issuance printers and encoders, Jeff Kruse, GM of TransTech Systems, said in a company press release.

"What started several years ago with the integration of card printers into an amusement park game has become a growing part of our business," he said. "Kiosk applications are expanding in general and while card issuance is a relatively small percentage, we entered the market at the right time."

As the self-service industry goes down the path of card issuance, some applications are going to need to have a level of document verification performed at the kiosk, Ron Erickson, president and CEO of Visualant, said.

"This should create a growing need for Visualant's Spectral Pattern Matching technology," he said.
